A one-hour adventure into the world of crystals
Tucked inside our cosy, heated cinema room, Crystal Wonders is a family-friendly workshop built for curious minds of all ages. Whether you are five or fifty-five, you will leave knowing something you did not know an hour earlier.
We start with the story of how crystals form deep underground over thousands, sometimes millions, of years. You will see where they are found around the world and meet the different types up close, from amethyst and quartz to calcite, the very crystal that lines the walls of our caves and glows under UV light.
Then it gets hands-on
Our expert guide will help you:
- Grow your very own crystal
- Examine and identify real specimens
- Learn to spot the tell-tale signs of a geode
- Choose special crystals to take home as a sparkling souvenir

The workshop runs for around one hour in our heated cinema room, so rain, shine or Yorkshire drizzle, you are warm and dry throughout. Content is pitched to engage younger children while still fascinating teenagers and adults.
