We currently have a wide range of gemstone jewellery in stock. These pieces are ideal whether you want to accessorise or channel positive energy.

There are

Fossils

At Stump Cross, we're mad about the Earth's ancient past. How couldn't we be? We're sitting on a network of caves that's hundreds of thousands of years old, after all.

So much of what we know about our prehistoric past comes from fossils. The fossilised remains of humans and animals teach us about their diets, their biology and their place in the food chain. Without them, life on prehistoric Earth would be one big question mark.

For this reason, we're delighted to share with you our
range of fossils, each one telling a different story.

Whether you're a fossil collector, an educator looking for specimens or an amateur with a keen eye for an old bone, we're sure you'll find a specimen that takes your fancy.

We've got
fossil boxes, shark teeth, ammonites and replicas. We also have Orthoceras. These intricately patterned shells are the preserved remains of marine creatures that thrived some 400 million years ago.

Oh, and if you visit in person, you can see our real-life prehistoric bones. Looking at them, it's incredible to think they're the remains of animals that walked the Earth long, long before civilisation as we know it began.

Take a look
– there's sure to be a fossil for you.

Gemstones

We have a wide range of gemstones for sale. These range from decorative pieces such as amethyst geodes to gemstone eggs, from polished hearts to selenite.

There's also our aura collection, featuring
rose quartz, chalcedony, obsidian arrowheads, agate slices and more.

We also stock
onyx coaster sets – the perfect addition to any dining table or coffee table – and a mining kit that lets you unearth your own sparkly minerals.

There are also
gemstone wands. These carved, polished objects would make a beautiful addition to any gemstone collection or can be used for energy healing and meditation.

Whether you're buying gemstones for decoration or healing properties, there's something for everyone at our online shop.

Figurines

Why not add one of our soapstone figurines to your shelf or toy box? Each one is hand-carved from natural soapstone and polished to a smooth finish.

Whether you go for a
soapstone dinosaur or soapstone animal, these unique, earthy figurines will make a precious addition to your collection or a thoughtful gift.

Soapstone is a type of rock composed of talc. It's formed deep underground by long periods of intense heat and pressure – and it's been used for carving for thousands of years.

What are gemstones?

Gemstones are cut and polished minerals or stones. They're also known as precious stones, semi-precious stones and fine gems.

Gemstones often have vibrant colours – think of a green emerald, a blue sapphire or a purple amethyst.

They're often used for jewellery and ornaments. Some people believe they have spiritual properties.

What are fossils?

Fossils are the preserved remains of organisms. Most of them are more than 10,000 years old. They're found in rocks and can include the preserved remains of bones, teeth, shells or wood, as well as footprints, burrows or plant roots.

They're formed over thousands of years when an organism is covered by mud or sand. The sediment stops them from being eroded or dug up by scavengers.

The study of fossils is called "palaeontology". A person who studies them is called a "palaeontologist".

Fossils are crucial to geologists because they help us understand the age of rocks and the biology of extinct animals. They're also beloved by collectors and used as ornaments across the world.

The word fossil comes from the Latin
fossilis, which literally means "unearthed".

Fancy an underground adventure?

So, there you have it – a quick tour of our new online gem and fossil shop. We hope you find something for yourself or a loved one that will be treasured always.
