Stump Cross's magical Christmas events in the Yorkshire Dales

Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat – and here at Stump Cross, we're plumping up our diaries with all manner of exciting festive events.

Some might say that at Stump Cross Caverns it's Christmas every day – at least, there's something pretty darn festive about the glimmering stalagmites and stalactites that festoon the passageways and grottos.

Join us this Christmas for a veritable advent calendar of activities. Mix and match experiences and events in a range of packages. Just don't forget to wrap up warm – there's no roaring fire down in the caves!

Christmas full-day package

Come for a trip with all the trimmings.


We kick things off in the caves themselves. Wander and wonder at the grotto-like rock formations that spellbind visitors year after year.

Next, meet Santa in his grotto. Kids can share their Christmas wishes and receive a special gift to take home.

Then it's on to the Time Out Pod where our resident Cavewoman will guide the kids through a recipe for reindeer food. Our reindeer-safe and eco-friendly ingredients won't just give the reindeer the energy they need for Christmas deliveries – they'll also enable the children to learn through play.


As the night draws in, we head down to the caves for an unforgettable UV experience. Each visitor gets an ultraviolet torch. Point it at the white calcite formations and see hidden veins and colours appear. In the UV light, the caves look more wondrous than ever.

 Finally, we take a trip to the cinema room for a screening of the family Christmas classic Elf . Enjoy the film with comfy seats, festive decorations and a free drink voucher each.

 
All in all, our full-day package will give the whole family a day trip you'll be talking about for years to come.

Please note that there are a maximum of eight tickets for each grotto and reindeer food session – so make sure to book now to avoid disappointment.
