Are you looking for date ideas that are different, interesting and fun? Head down to Stump Cross Caverns!

A man and a woman are holding hands in a park.

Another weekend has been and gone and you realise, "We haven't done anything as a couple in ages!"

Does that sound about right?

Or maybe you're looking to impress on a first date. Nothing cheesy or overdone – you just want an unforgettable date that will show what a fun and interesting person you are.

If you live in Yorkshire or want to pay our county a visit, we've got just the place: Stump Cross Caverns.

Our ancient underground cave system doesn't just offer a great day out for families. It's ideal for couples who are looking for adventure too.

Let's take a look at the date-friendly activities we offer.

Explore our caves

If you're looking for fun with an educational twist, you can't miss our underground cave system.

A cave with a lot of colorful lights coming out of it.

Try one of our guided cave tours – or explore by yourselves and be mesmerised by the beautiful displays of rock formations. You'll form a closer connection with your partner as you navigate the twisting passageways and learn about this unique and ancient world.

You might learn a bit about each other, too. The delicately lit passageways create a mysterious and romantic atmosphere that you can enjoy together.

Enjoy tea and cake with a view

Our Time Cafe overlooks the stunning Yorkshire Dales.

A restaurant with tables and chairs and clocks on the wall

Though the cafe is decorated with quirky clocks, you'll feel like time has stopped as you drink in the gorgeous landscape. It's the perfect place to enjoy each other's company and enjoy a treat or two.

Talking of which, there are plenty of scrumptious sweet and savoury options available. Why not treat your partner with a slice of cake and a pot of steaming Yorkshire tea? You could even enjoy a tipple thanks to our range of Stump Cross Beers. (Brewed using real cave water. Yes!)

It makes for the perfect lunchtime date if you're looking for something beautiful, different and lip-smackingly delicious.

Take afternoon tea

If you want to impress your date, you can't beat afternoon tea. It's the very picture of traditional English refinement.

Take tea with us at Stump Cross Caverns and you'll enjoy a selection of sandwiches and cakes, along with a delicious hot drink of your choice.

If you fancy grabbing a cheeky bargain, book our combined cave and tea deal for the ultimate afternoon date.

You can explore the caves together and then relax in the cafe with a trayful of delicious treats. Perfect.

Chill in our Time Out Pod

Want to take things easy? Head to the Time Out Pod for the ultimate relaxation experience in the Yorkshire Dales.

There is a clock on the wall above the table.

Decked out with cushions, fairy lights and cosy decorations, our Time Out Pod is the perfect place to dine and unwind. You can enjoy each other's company and get lost in time together as you're served drinks and snacks by our friendly team.

And did we mention it's got fantastic views too? If you want to enjoy the beauty of the Dales without distractions, this is the best place for it.

Sign up for our special events

If you're ever stuck for date ideas, take a peek at our events calendar. We hold a wide array of activities that would be perfect for adventurous couples.

For example, we regularly host stargazing nights. They offer the perfect excuse to snuggle up under the stars – and learn a little about astronomy in the process!

Get your rock on

Does your partner have a particular interest in rocks and fossils? Or perhaps you just want to try something delightfully different for a change?

If so, don't miss our next fossil-hunting event hosted by the one and only Mark Kemp.

A man is holding a piece of rock in front of a shelf filled with rocks.

Mark knows a thing or two about fossils. In fact, he's such a fossil wizard that he's widely known as "The Yorkshire Fossil Hunter".

You'll join Mark as he explores the captivating landscape of Stump Cross and hunts for real fossils. After the expedition, you'll head to the Time Out Pod where you'll learn fossil preparation techniques and pick up some fossil hunting tips and tricks.

Best of all, you can take a fossil home as a memento of your experience. Neat!

Explore our shop

You can't go wrong with a little retail therapy. But who wants to spend yet another afternoon browsing the same old clothes shops?

Try our gift shop instead. We've got T-shirts and hoodies, sure – but we also sell real-life treasures like fossils, gems and unique souvenirs.

A group of lamps are sitting on a table in a store.

If you're anything like us, you could easily spend a happy hour browsing the goodies on offer.

Propose!

Can you think of a more impressive place to propose than in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales?

Let's paint a picture. You've spent the day exploring and discovering our caves together, hands intertwined. Then you've topped it off with a visit to our Time Café or Time Out Pod.

The sun is setting and you're looking forward to the stargazing. It might just be the perfect time…

Whether you're drinking up the daytime view or snuggling beneath the stars, the landscape around Stump Cross would make a beautiful backdrop to a proposal. And hey – If you're feeling really adventurous you could even propose in our cave…

Are you looking for fun activities in Yorkshire for couples? Next time you're sitting around with nothing to do, treat yourself to a date at Stump Cross Caverns. You're sure to have an unforgettable day with your loved one.

It's quick and simple to book your tickets online.
