Calling all parents, guardians and teachers! Are you looking for a fun and educational Sunday club for children aged between seven and 11? Your search could well be over once you've heard all about our Stumpy Rockstars club here at Stump Cross Caverns.

We're best known as a subterranean network of caves and passageways, festooned with rock formations that will take your breath away. But as well as welcoming visitors to the caves, we put on a wide range of events and activities. Stumpy Rockstars is the latest addition to an already-packed schedule.

It's a fun, accessible and inclusive club where seven- to 11-year-olds can learn all about geology and palaeontology. While you probably don't need convincing that this is a good use of time, the children you're bringing might. That's why we make sure to keep the sessions light, fun and hands-on as well as educational.

The sessions are hosted by our resident
Cavewoman – a local legend who steps out of the prehistoric past each week with one aim: to engage and educate the children who visit Stump Cross.

We hope that Stumpy Rockstars will be a welcoming forum where kids can congregate and share their passion for all things geological.

Our first sessions run from the end of February – and they're already sold out . However, we're excited to be putting on more sessions in future, so watch this space.

About the sessions

If your child is interested in rocks, fossils, minerals or landscapes, Stumpy Rockstars is the place to be. It's a small group with a focus on active learning and forging friendships with like-minded children.

Cavewoman will lead the participants in fun, hands-on sessions that engage, entertain and educate in equal measure. The focus will be on the history, geology and landscape of Stump Cross Caverns and its surroundings.

The first run of sessions included a guided tour of the caverns, sedimentary rock-making, a frozen fossil hunt and a session on dinosaur fossils (including dinosaur poo!)
So if you've got a child or children who want to expand their knowledge and meet some like-minded rockstars, make sure to keep an eye on our schedule for the next dates!

Our first Stumpy Rockstars is a sell-out! If you've missed out this time, keep an eye on our
social media for the next announcement. Or why not explore our regular children's activities in North Yorkshire – including fossil digs with Cavewoman herself?
